Practicing what we preach
Our specific environmental activities include:
At Ansell, eight of our nine major manufacturing plants are ISO 14001 certified, and the remaining manufacturing plant is targeted to be ISO 14001 certified by June 2010. Certification means that our manufacturing facilities have environmentally responsible policies and practices in place.
We’ve reduced company CO2 emissions by 20% in four years [2004 – 2008] and a further reduction is targeted for the period of 2009 to 2013.

We’ve reduced the amount of water used in manufacturing processes, reclaiming and reusing water where possible and sensible.
Manufacturing initiatives that have been implemented as part of our “Green Productivity” program, to maximize efficient energy usage and reduce our GHG emissions, include the conversions of boiler systems to natural gas, the recovery of energy from flue gas emitted from boiler system chimneys, the installation of high efficiency heating and chilling systems, and other renovations to keep buildings naturally cooler.
We’ve minimized the environmental impact of our distribution centers by making smarter decisions on location sites and reduced truck mileage and fuel consumption by making transportation routes more efficient.
Unused gloves are donated to non-profit organizations.
We’ve redesigned our exam glove packaging to increase the glove count per box and reduce packaging waste.
We recycle*.
Our collateral is printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved materials using soy-based inks. The council promotes responsible management of the world’s forests by meeting the needs of present and future generations through social, economic and ecological management.
