Stop the Sensitization: Broadening the Message
Russell L. Thompson, Editor
In the text, Latex Allergy1, the term "Stop the Sensitization" was coined as an appeal to health care institutions, educators, and latex glove manufacturers to become aware of the growing occupational disease of Natural Rubber Latex Allergy. In Source to Surgery, January 1995, Vol. 3, Issue 1, AnsellCares Scientific Advisory Board member Dr. Kevin Kelly chose this term as the title of his article.
The following article, also titled "Stop the Sensitization" was written by AnsellCares Scientific Advisory Board members Jordan Fink, MD, Kevin Kelly, MD, and Gordon Sussman, MD. This article, published in the Rostrum section of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, broadens the appeal to the Allergy and Immunology community to include powdered gloves as possible aeroallergen contaminants.
This article is being reprinted to expand the message beyond the Allergy community to our worldwide multi-disciplinary readership.
