Hand Hygiene
Aloe/Aloe Vera: Group of over 200 fleshy-leafed plants, related
to lilies.
Barbadoa aloe (Aloe Ver – Aloe barbadensis): Grown in Texas
is a common household plant. Heating the juice of this plant produces a powder and
a gel.
Hand hygiene: Interchangeable term, applies to any of the following
activities – hand washing, antiseptic handwash, antiseptic hand rub or surgical
hand antisepsis.
Glycerol: Humectant and lipid fluidizer, non-volatile, hygroscopic
liquid allows it to retain water in the skin, hydrates and plasticizes the skin
to prevent dehydration.
Humectant: Substance that promotes retention of moisture.
