OVERVIEW


Ansell Healthcare Products LLC has an ongoing commitment to the development of quality hand barrier products and services for the healthcare industry. This self-study, Clinical Reference Manual: Understanding the Issues of Double Gloving, is one module in a continuing education series. This education module provides basic knowledge and explains the benefits of double gloving.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES


Upon completion of this educational activity, the learner should be able to:
  1. Discuss the manufacture of gloves.
  2. Describe the factors that could cause glove failure.
  3. Discuss double gloving.
  4. Describe healthcare workers risk with single gloves.
  5. Describe research on change.
  6. Discuss double gloving technique.
  7. Discuss the recommendations of at least three different organizations regarding double gloving.
INTENDED AUDIENCE


The information contained in this self-study guidebook is intended for use by healthcare professionals who are responsible for or involved in the following activities related to double gloving:
  • Educating healthcare workers on double gloving in the healthcare setting
  • Establishing institutional or departmental policies and procedures with regard to double gloving
  • Decision-making responsibilities for hand-barrier products
  • Maintaining regulatory compliance with agencies such as OSHA, ADA and CDC
  • Managing and monitoring employee health
INSTRUCTIONS


This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses, Inc. (AORN), an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Activities that are approved by AORN are recognized as continuing education for registered nurses. This recognition does not imply that AORN or the ANCC Commission on Accreditation approves or endorses any product included in the presentation.

The AORN designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 contact hour. Additionally, this continuing education activity has been approved by the Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc., for 1 CE in the AST Category 1 for continuing education in surgical technology. Approval refers to recognition of educational activities only and does not imply endorsement of any product or company displayed in any form during the educational activity. To receive contact hours for this program through Ansell Healthcare Educational Services, please review the following instructions:
  1. Read the information in each section carefully with the Program Objectives as your focus.
  2. At the conclusion of the exercise, please login (if you have a UserID and Password),
    or register by completing the CE Application Form
  3. Complete the Post-Test and Program Evaluation segments, and submit for processing and awarding of CE certification.
AN 85% PASSING SCORE IS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION


Allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing and issuance of a certificate. Any learner who does not successfully complete the post-test will be notified and given an opportunity to resubmit for certification.
